Watch out for hidden calories!

You often wonder why you can't or no longer lose  ...

Start by checking the labels and especially the hidden calories of certain foods.  !

 

 

1. Coffee and tea

Many people start their day or end their meal with a cup of coffee or tea  : these drinks do not make you fat but it is above all what you add to them - sugar, flavored syrups, cream… .- which can be detrimental to your weight loss.

TO AVOID  : cappuccino coffee, cracked coffee, mocha, iced tea… They are indeed high in calories, sugar and fat.

PREFERRED  : 1% milk (instead of cream),  a teaspoon of honey instead of sugar.

Example  : if you consume 4 coffees per day and add cream and sugar, the daily calorie balance increases by more than 200 calories  ! After a week, 1400 calories in these drinks  !!!

 

2. The sauces  : dressings

Don't think you have to eat a salad in a restaurant to lose weight. They're often packed with fat and trans fats - even in a tablespoon of dressing.  !
Always ask for your sauce aside to prepare it yourself
  or prepare it at home: a tablespoon of olive oil, mustard, vinegar, lemon juice, citrus zest, and spices / herbs,… If you wish  : you can opt for low fat and reduced commercial dressings  in calories.

 

3. Candy and chewing gum

Many people finish their meals or snack on candy during the day to keep their mouths busy. Sweets are high in sugars and therefore in calories  !
Preferred
  : chewing gum and candy without added sugar.

Be careful of false labels though.  : some say to themselves "  SUGAR FREE  »And yet these delicacies are high in calories (due to other ingredients that have been added  : honey for example).  So watch the labels  : ideally 10 g of carbohydrate maximum per day.

 

4. Ketchup and mayonnaise

When we take meat or to accompany certain vegetables, we often opt for ketchup and mayonnaise ... and yet  !

  • 1 tablespoon of ketchup has 25 calories (150 mg of sodium and 5 g of carbohydrates).

  • 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise provides 500 calories (contains fat and trans fat)

 

Preferred  : Mustard or even homemade ketchup and mayonnaise

 

Recipe for a homemade mayonnaise  :

Ingredients for 4 persons) :

  • 200 g of plain white cheese 0% fat

  • 1 hard-boiled egg yolk

  • 1 teaspoon of mustard

  • 1/4 lemon

  • 2 tablespoon of chopped parsley (or chives, tarragon, chervil, mint ...)

  • 1/2  teaspoon of turmeric (or saffron, paprika, curry ...)

  • Salt pepper

 

Preperation  :  

  • Cook the egg 8 to 10 minutes in a saucepan of boiling water. Let cool then take the hard-boiled egg yolk.

  • Crumble the latter and mix it with the mustard.

  • Gradually pour in the fromage blanc while stirring the sauce and finish by adding a few drops of lemon juice.

  • Add your choice of chopped aromatic herbs (chives, tarragon, chervil, mint) or spices (curry, saffron, paprika ...) depending on the dish that the sauce accompanies.

  • Season with salt and pepper then refrigerate until serving.

  • Enjoy your lunch !

Recipe for Homemade Ketchup  :

 

Ingredients  :

·          1 large box of  tomato  peeled

·          1  onion

·          1 clove of garlic

·          2 tablespoon of  vinegar

·          2 tablespoon of aspartame  (Approximately 4gr)

·          1 teaspoon of  salt  to  celery  (or  selnormal)

·          1/2 teaspoon of 5 berries (or  pepper)

·          1/4 teaspoon of  chilli pepper  from Espelette

 

Preperation  :

  • Roughly chop the onion and garlic. Pour into a saucepan Heat these ingredients over medium heat with the tin of peeled tomatoes  . Add salt, pepper and Espelette pepper.

  •   At the end of cooking, mix the sauce with a blender so that it becomes smooth.

Return the sauce to the saucepan, add the vinegar and simmer while stirring for about thirty minutes. Let cool and add the aspartame.

  • Place your sauce in the fridge in a suitable container  . (Thanks to the vinegar that this sauce contains, the conservation can be done up to 2 months).

  • Easy and light recipe  … and enjoy your meal  !  :)

 

5. Drinks

To avoid  : alcoholic drinks, specialty coffees, fruit juices or cocktails, carbonated drinks which provide no nutritional value and which are high in sugars, therefore in calories and can slow down your weight loss.

Preferred  : water, tea (green or black), herbal teas, homemade fruit juices, homemade smoothies, coffee with milk….

 

So watch out for hidden calories in foods, read labels carefully and compare your favorite ingredients to go for the low calorie one.  !
