The banana


The banana is the fruit of the banana tree. It has a yellow or green color with a sweet and melting taste at the same time.

There are 2 main types of bananas: dessert bananas which are eaten all over the world and cooking bananas including plantain.

Bananas are among the most energetic fresh fruits with 94 kcal per 100 g, which is equivalent to 150 kcal for a banana.

Its carbohydrates, up to 20%, are made up before maturation by starch which gradually disappears to then give way to simple sugars.
Dessert bananas are satiating and are a quickly available source of energy, they are ideal for athletes.

Some varieties even contain, after ripening, more starch and less sugar.
This is the case with plantains, which therefore require cooking before consumption.

Bananas are not the fruit that contains the most antioxidants, but they still have a high antioxidant capacity that helps prevent certain cancers, cardiovascular diseases, and various chronic diseases.

Regarding the nutritional intake of this fruit, bananas are an excellent source of vitamin B6, vitamin B9, vitamin C, manganese and copper.

Recipe ideas:

You can consume the banana raw , added in a fruit salad, in pancakes, in sherbets or mousses.
Recipe with chicken: Chicken fillet soaked in a marinade: mashed banana, lemon juice, cilantro, cinnamon, curry, salt and pepper
Put your poultry in foil in the oven for about 30 minutes.

Easy to make banana pancake: 

Ingredients: 1 banana and 2 eggs
Preparation: Break the two eggs into a bowl and mix everything. Add the peeled banana and mix at maximum speed to obtain a homogeneous texture. Using a non-stick pan, pour in the banana and egg mixture, forming circles.
Tip: don't try to flatten your pancakes, the thicker it will be, the softer it will be. Turn your pancakes over when bubbles start to form on the surface. (count 20 seconds on the other side).

These pancakes are perfect for a snack or for breakfast: the egg and banana mixture combines magnesium and fiber. For the greediest, you can add vanilla sugar, chocolate chips, maple syrup ...

Do not try too much to decline your recipes with this fruit: avoid whipped cream, banana split, .. which will very quickly increase the daily energy balance.

Don't ban bananas from your diet, but learn to limit them!
